Some nice dates to know for Irish history.......
A.D.794/795 - first attacks by "Vikings" on Ireland - first done on the island of either Rathlin or Lambay (uncertain as to which one it is as they both have the same Irish name Reichriu)
A.D. 1014 - Battle of Clontarf - Brian Boru's attempts to become High King of Ireland result in his attack on Dublin attacking the Leinstermen under Mael Mordha, and the Dublin Vikings as well as Hebridean and Mann Vikings. On Brian's side were the Limerick vikings, and the Munstermen, as well as possibly some Connaughtmen and Ulstermen (?) (the last two i will check up on later)
A.D. 1169 - LArge Norman arrival in Ireland thanks to Diarmuid Mac something who used the Normans to help him get his land back. They did and then took it for themselves.........(yes quick version)
more to follow
